The Deep Learning Indaba is proud to launch the 2019 awards programme. This year, in partnership with the Africa Oxford Initiative<\/a> and Black in AI<\/a>, three awards will be given: the Kambule Doctoral Award<\/a>, the Kambule Masters Award<\/a> and the Maathai Impact Award<\/a>, to recognise excellence in African research and applications.<\/p>\n

The winner of the Kambule Doctoral Award will be fully sponsored by the Africa Oxford Initiative to present their research at the University of Oxford<\/strong>. The winners of the Kambule Masters Award and Maathai Impact Award will be fully sponsored by Black in AI to attend<\/strong> NeurIPS 2019<\/a> and the Black in AI workshop, co-located with NeurIPS<\/strong>, in December 2019. Winners of each award will also receive a cash prize.<\/p>\n

\u200bThese awards celebrate those who show the strength of African machine learning, and we encourage as many applications from across Africa as possible.
