{"id":133,"date":"2020-02-04T01:23:01","date_gmt":"2020-02-04T01:23:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/machinelearningindaba.com\/2020\/?page_id=133"},"modified":"2020-02-29T14:40:45","modified_gmt":"2020-02-29T14:40:45","slug":"awards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/deeplearningindaba.com\/2020\/awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Deep Learning Indaba is proud to host the Kambule, Maathai and Umuntu Awards.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Kambule Doctoral Award<\/strong> recognises and encourages excellence in research and writing by doctoral candidates at African universities, in any area of computational and statistical sciences.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Kambule Masters Award<\/strong> recognises excellence by Masters degree candidates at African universities, in any area of computational and statistical sciences.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Maathai Impact Award<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\"> encourages and recognises work by African innovators that shows impactful application of machine learning and artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>The <strong style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Umuntu Award for Services to the African Machine Learning Community<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\"> is awarded at the discretion of the Indaba&#8217;s Board of Trustees to recognise individuals or teams who have gone beyond the call of duty to support our African community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u200bThese awards celebrate those who show the strength of African machine learning, and we encourage as many applications from across our continent as possible.
