A kickoff meeting will be organized to discuss the project expectations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Presentation Format<\/strong>: Communities will submit their final projects in the form of <strong>slide presentations and detailed report<\/strong> covering:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Problem Statement<\/strong>: Define the issue and its significance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proposed Solution<\/strong>: Explain how AI can be leveraged to address the challenge.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dataset or Survey Analysis<\/strong>: Provide supporting data and insights.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recommendations &amp; Implementation Plan<\/strong>: Outline steps for execution and sustainability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We welcome both practical implementations and theoretical solutions in this competition.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Competition Overview &amp; Timeline<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Call for Participation <em>(Deadline: April 14th 2025, 11pm GMT)<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p> Communities are invited to submit their interests addressing challenges in the following domains but not limited to:<\/p>\n<p><strong>AI for Indigenous Language Inclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example: <strong>Masakhane NLP<\/strong> (advancing AI for African languages).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Challenge<\/strong>: How AI can improve access to translation tools for underserved languages?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AI for Climate &amp; Environmental Monitoring<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example: <strong>Africlimate<\/strong> (leveraging AI for climate adaptation).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Challenge<\/strong>: How can AI help African communities mitigate and respond to climate change?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AI for Healthcare &amp; Well-being<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example: <strong>AI-driven community health initiatives<\/strong> (early disease detection, mental health support).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Challenge<\/strong>: How can AI improve public health systems in resource-limited areas?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AI for Ethical &amp; Responsible Data Use<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example: <strong>Community-led ethical AI advocacy<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Challenge<\/strong>: How can communities promote fair and responsible AI adoption in Africa?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Example templates for the submission report and submission link will be shared with communities that register interest to participate.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Presentation and Reports Submission (June 27th, 2025)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>All interested communities must submit their final presentations and reports by June 27th, 2025. The submission must include:<\/p>\n<p>1.<strong>Slide Presentation (Maximum 10 slides)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Title Slide: Community name, project title, and team members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Problem Statement: Clearly define the challenge being addressed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proposed Solution: Describe how AI is applied to solve the problem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dataset\/Survey Analysis: Provide key insights from data used or the data collection process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Implementation Plan: Steps for deploying and sustaining the solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Impact &amp; Future Work: Provide metrics to measure the impact of the solution, expected outcomes and potential scalability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.<strong>Detailed Report (10-20 pages, PDF format)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduction: Overview of the problem and its significance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Methodology: Explain the AI approach, dataset used\/process for data collection, and technical details such as models etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Results &amp; Findings: Present key outcomes and observations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Challenges &amp; Limitations: Address any constraints faced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recommendations &amp; Next Steps: Provide a roadmap for future work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3.<strong>Submission Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All materials must be zipped into a single folder and submitted via the official submission portal (link to be provided).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>File naming format: [CommunityName]_Indaba2025_Submission.zip<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Deadline: June 27th, 2025, 11:59 PM UTC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Failure to submit by the deadline may result in disqualification from the competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Let me know if you want further refinements before I update the document!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Presentation &amp; Judging (July 1st 2025)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Shortlisted projects will present their solutions in July.
